HOUSING RELATED SUPPORT
Housing related support is normally provided by a warden, sheltered housing officer or support worker to vulnerable adults who live in sheltered or supported housing.
Who is a vulnerable adult?
These might include;
older people
adults with a learning difficulty or mental health problem
those fleeing domestic violence
homeless people
young people leaving care
people with drug or alcohol problems
ex-offenders and people with a physical or sensory impairment
What is it?
Housing support helps people to:
maintain their tenancy; and
remain as independent as possible.
Housing support services may also include:
an emergency alarm
help with filling in forms to claim welfare benefits
help with arranging professionals to call or provide services
help with maintaining the safety and security of your home
help and training to enable you to move on to other accommodation with less support
help with budgeting and managing your tenancy; and
help to arrange shopping or cleaning
All of these services will help you to do things for yourself rather than have them done for you.
Who pays for it?
The money used to pay for support you receive is called 'Supporting People Subsidy'. Certain criteria apply.
For more details, contact the Supporting People Team Administrator on 01243 777944 or,
