Important information about own home repairs

The Government have passed new legislation which is intended to stop home owners performing certain repair/installation works themselves rather than using an "authorised" contractor. It sets out which works may be performed by the owner, provided notice has been given to the local building control office of the District Council and those which require an "authorised" contractor.  It is NOT limited to gas installations

Anyone failing to observe the new regulations is liable to a penalty of £5,000.00.
