Guide to renting an allotment Allotments enable you to reduce your food bills and give you plenty of exercise and fresh air. Just look at the other benefits an allotment can give you:- : having fresh fruit and vegetables which you konw are free from chemicals to make them grow or have been sprayed with pesticides if you grow them organically; you can meet other people who have the same objectives in mind and with whom you can have friendly chats. It can also give you a sense of achievement when you see the fruits of your labours; It also takes you away from the hustle and bustle of modern life and enables you to "stand and stare", a good way of easing any stresses from this modern life. There are two allotments sites in this Parish. One at Horsham Road, Handcross and the other off Cuckfield Lane, Warninglid. The people to contact on behalf of this council are:_ The Clerk to the Council, Miss Sally McLean - 01403 733881 and Mr. Hawkins for the Warninglid Allotments - Telephone 01444 461316 They will allocate you a plot (or two or more if available). If you think a whole allotment is too much (approximately 200 square metres)you can still rent a half plot. The charges for plots at Handcross are £10.00 per annum. There is no mains water on site. At Warninglid this charge is £12 per annum as there is a metered water supply.

  • It also takes you away from the hustle and bustle of modern life and enables you to "stand and stare", a good way of easing any stresses from this modern life.

The charges for plots at Handcross will be 10.00 pounds per annum from 1.4.07. There is no mains water on site. A rotavator is available for use by allotment holders.

 

At Warninglid the charge will be 12.00 pounds per annum as there is a metered water supply.
