WestSussexCounty Council's proposals for withdrawing certain bus services.
The 89 bus from Horsham to Haywards Heath that passes through Warninglid is on the list for withdrawal from April 2012 . The PC have done an impact assessment to try and stop that, however it looks like it's still on the list and may need further weight from them and the community. Statement of Community Involvement Review
I am writing to ask for your help in a review of Mid Sussex District Council's Statement of Community Involvement.
The Statement of Community Involvement describes how the Council involves residents, businesses and other local organisations in its decision making.
It is necessary to review the current Statement (adopted in April 2006) as it is out-dated, concentrates only on planning and is considered too
prescriptive, resource intensive and difficult for residents to follow.
A draft Statement of Community Involvement has been produced for public consultation. It is intended to be easier to read and understand and will
guide all significant community involvement done by the Council (not just planning) in a more efficient and effective way. (contd - next column)
The 12-week public consultation on the draft District Plan is just over halfway through and Mid Sussex District Council is reminding residents that there are many ways they can feed back their views and help to shape the future of the District.
There have been two distraction burglaries in the Mid Sussex area this week, one in Crawley, the other in Pease Pottage.
In Crawley the burglar pretended to be from the Water Board, showed an ID card and told the elderly resident that a water main further up the road had exploded. The male kept the resident busy in the kitchen 'testing the water' while a second male entered the property and stole cash.
In Pease Pottage, the burglar stated there were gas works going on locally and that he needed to flush through the water. There was a second male involved in this incident too and a large quantity of cash was stolen from the residents wallet.
Please be wary of any strangers calling at your property who are trying to gain access. Most utility companies will write to you in advance of any planned works. You can also set up password schemes to help you verify that a caller is genuine. Details of how to do this can be found on your utility bills.
If in doubt - keep them out. Don't be afraid to ring your service provider to verify someone's identity. A genuine caller will be happy to wait. If you are still not satisfied, ring the police immediately.

The draft Statement is presented as a main 'principles' document called ''How you can get involved'' This sets out six principles by which the
Council will seek to involve residents, businesses and other local organisations in planning and other key decisions. Appendices to the 'principles' document detail how the draft Statement will be put into
practice (and will allow it to be easily updated and with appendices added or amended when required). These appendices are:
''How we involve you in making planning decisions''- sets out how the Council will apply the six principles and involve the community in making decisions on planning.
''How we involve you in Planning Performance Agreements''- sets out a protocol for how the Council will implement Planning Performance Agreements for large and complex planning applications in accordance with the Statement.

Once adopted, the Statement of Community Involvement will act as a guide and benchmark for all Council services to use when involving communities. It will replace the current Statement and will become a statutory document of the Council's Local Development Framework.
